THE PROJECT:
Client and longtime friend, Jeff Plankenhorn has relied on me to develop the art work for numerous posters, album covers and merchandise products during his career as a solo artist. He is a slide guitar master and has the abitity to write some amazing Americana style songs. This is a collection for both of his releases, Covered/Uncovered Vol. 1 & 2. Jeff wanted to combine the two for a gatefold vinyl release. His biggest request was to have both covers on the outside, using the front and back of the sleeve to display the covers upright. We also needed the user to open to the inside liner notes, per each release, properly. The vinyl labels were designed after the CD labels released several months before.
THE PROCESS:
The process began with gathering of the final covers for the CD releases. The final illustrations were developed in Procreate. The titles and all copy on the front and back were completed in Adobe Photoshop. The illustrations for the record labels for both sides A & B, which was produced in InDesign. The chosen printer provided a proper Adobe InDesign template for the highest quality print possible. Both the final front and back cover were prepped within their template, ready for print.
