This was an interesting and meaningful project for the South African National Reading Coalition, an initiative to address the reading challenges facing South Africa. Artists from all over the country participated in creating a series of books that would be accessible to those in underprivileged communities. The books are designed to be viewed and downloaded on WhatsApp. 

  The subject matter focused mainly on rural life in South Africa and the intention was to have art that was unique and engaging, rather than conforming to strict confines. I felt that this was an opportunity to do something a little more experimental and the result is the first images you will see. The editors, however, felt the work too stylistic, especially the character design. So I did an emergency revision in a few days and the project ended well. I am happy with both results, though one is by far my favourite. I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Enjoy!
