DYB 102 - Impact Lab: Design Intensive - Alexis Coverdale

In the Design Intensive for Impact Lab 2 (People), my group (Kent Mikami, Caitlyn Jackwitz, Cleo Hamiltonm Grace Louie, Leah Kwon) and I were tasked with designing a solution for the organisation Women in Film and Television.

Through our research we were able to identify that the organisation wanted a design that would accomodate to their problems around lack of member participation, funding for the organisation and a focus on mothers in Film and television.
Within our time exploring these problems and speaking to the client Bobbi-Lea we came to the understanding that a current issue resides with young male film students wanting to make a positive impact towards gender inequality, but not having the platform to reach out and learn about the current gender climate in the film industry. We thought this was a missed opportunity within the mentor program.
Ultimately we came up with the solution to create a sister program MENtored by HER, which would be a sister program to MentorHer. However the intention would be to promote a safe environment where the men in the industry could develop a better understanding of the problems their female colleagues are facing and how they can support them, becoming proactive in the movement to equality in Film and Television.
Here we have an image of my group during the rapid ideation phase.
Here is a final photo of our group after our presentation to the client.
