Roman Gladius Sword Prop

Gladius
3D Printed Sword Prop
The Gladius was created as a replica of an Ancient Roman Gladius (or Spatha). While this piece was originally designed as a decorative fixture, it can also be used as a letter opener or prop weapon. The Gladius was sketched and modeled using Fusion 360, and printed using Hatchbox White PLA filament.
This model was inspired by a class on Roman history. While the subject could seem distant at times, having a concrete model of a Roman relic helped bring the stories of Ancient Rome to life.
This particular print was made with Prusament Galaxy Black PLA filament. The underside of the model can be rough after removal of support structures, but it can easily be sanded.
A variety of Fusion 360 renders depicting the Gladius' various angles.
