Castaween (Castanyada + Halloween)

Here in Catalona we celebrate “La Castanyada” instead of Halloween.
We toast chestnuts, we make little sweet pies with almond flour and sugar named “panellets” and we celebrate life and death by eating these delicious dishes while drinking sweet wine on October 31th evening. But the influence of Halloween is growing year after year. So for some time now, the younger ones have started mixing the two traditions in the celebration. And this illustration  is the result of the syncretism of the anglosaxon (Halloween) and catalan tradition (Castanyada): some panellets with typically Halloween costumes, seduced by their imaginary.
