United Colors of Fashion | Brand Development

A New York City-based non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization with a passion to locally mentor under-resourced youth in New York City about the fashion industry through hands-on training in fashion education; and offer provisions of financial assistance, food, and clothing to youth in South Africa who are living with HIV/AIDS, sickle cell anemia and paralysis.

Marketing Initiative:
A complete 360-degree refresh that establishes an iconic brand identity for UCOF within a crowded non-profit marketplace, with the goals of appealing to new supporters and sponsors, while also resonating with the
youth UCOF strives to empower.

Objective:
Increase awareness, inspire support and create advocacy.

Primary Logo
A serif typeface with a high fashion feel was key to UCOF’s credibility as a fashion authority.
The graphic thread
represents the unity that UCOF creates between (a) under-resourced youth and the fashion industry,
(b) fashion philanthropists and youth suffering with HIV/AIDS, and (c) the uniquely talented members of the UCOF team. The various bright colors in the logo reveal the youthful, optimistic and global spirit of the brand.

Mark
The button and needles represent the tools UCOF provides in order to empower youth to achieve their goals through fashion. Two needles are used to signify UCOF’s two core initiatives: Fashion Education and UCOF Cares.

Mantra
UCOF’s mantra effectively encapsulates its two core initiatives. Through its Fashion Education and UCOF Cares programs, UCOF leverages fashion to improve education and health for youth both locally and globally. Ultimately, using fashion to empower youth to achieve their career and personal aspirations.
