These are character design concept drawings that I did some years ago for ANIMATION LAB, which was a startup based in Jerusalem, Israel.

 

They were developing an original animated feature titled THE WILD BUNCH, that was all about PLANTS. The story was real fun and filled with humor and colorful action, but it also had a much deeper meaning behind it.

 

I had a great time playing with ideas how to express emotions and identities through plants and giving them characteristics and personas. 

 

There were some big Hollywood names attached to the project, and it was a great experience for me working in it not just developing the characters but also consulting on the screenplay development.

 

As you can see here, the GMO corn was the bad guy, and the clever story had many references to our current world where humans play God and manipulate nature to their own will.

 

There are so many opportunities in animation when done right and with the proper intention behind it to tell marvelous stories that not only entertain the audiences, but moreover: to explore deeper realizations and make one contemplate on meaningful issues that pertain to life, our world and our society.
