Flotsam & Jetsam
Circular Design Project
Design brief: Identify a "Circular Design" challenge in a students' everyday life and create an appropriate solution to close the loop.
The prototyping stage began with cardboard models for exploration and testing, and continuously evolved with the project to match intended design and function. However the substitute materials were for this purpose. Further, as you can see the product is shown in three different sizes to meet different need and integrate the product in student's everyday life.
The kit is made of natural fibre, leather, and composites reinforcements for sustainability and lasting duration. Because of sustainable design and material choices the product can be easily used as a source of material for new products at the end of its life contributing to circular economy even after its life long ended.
Watch below a video illustration to find how this product can solve the identified problem and contribute to circularity?

End note: The product was a collaborative endeavour with three other creative practitioners in MSc Product Design Engineering programme for the Circular Design Project at the Glasgow School of Art, UK. Special Credit: CAD model produced by Jin Chen
