Meshed

Designed By: Yeo Wan Jun
Project Description

Meshed plays with contrasting thicknesses, colours, types and textures of metal wires to create interesting composition that always varies each time it is made. It all occurs naturally by chance where it started off with a randomly weaved metal-wired ball being crushed flat to reveal its unique, intricate composition.

Measuring the metal wires and weaving them randomly into a ball with two different types of wires.

Crushing the metal-wired ball flat using a potato mesher to increase the efficiency of doing so. Stencils of different sizes are used to restrict the size of the metal-wired ball when crushed.

After doing some final adjustments, malleting it is necessary to fix its shape and keep the wires in place.

Lastly, connecting the round pieces together by winding a thinner wire around the edge of the circles.
