Modular Type
I created this modular typeface using only three simple shapes on a grid. In addition to the shape limitations, I used a handful of rules to create a cohesive typeface. These included not connecting anything to the side of the squares and placing all touching squares in a shared line.
Below are some of my sketches where I experimented with character designs before digitizing them.
