Problem
The goal of this project was to create a new symbol that would integrate well with an existing symbol system.
Solution
I chose the Google App symbol system and created the idea for a new product from Google called Google: Alert. Essentially it is an app that handles notifications from multiple sources and allows users to customize which apps send them notifications and how/when to receive them. A booklet was also designed to show the symbol development process. Careful consideration was taken to ensure the symbol would fit well with the Google App system, but also stand on its own as the icon for a new product. The booklet walks through the design research and sketching done to arrive at the final symbol. It also explains what a symbol system is and the concept behind the hypothetical product, Google: Alert.
