Throughout this project, I collaborated closely with both the design and development teams, overseeing the creation and implementation of components. These components were exported directly from Figma into JSON files, which our design system could then import and seamlessly utilize for the development team.
After obtaining the tokens from the Figma files, we imported them into our own npm repository. By utilizing Storybook, we were able to visualize, test, and make every component available for the development team to use in creating new features.
We utilized a plugin to export all the tokens from the Figma files as a JSON file, ensuring that every time there was a design change, we would receive the latest version of the core design.
We proceeded to import this file into our Storybook, where all the developers were able to view and select the components to create new views and features in a seamless manner. Additionally, we exposed all of our components as npm modules.
While searching for an iOS developer during the development of the native mobile app, we encountered a shortage of available resources. To ensure that we could maintain our release timeline for both platforms, I took on the responsibility of implementing components and views into SwiftUI, thereby freeing up more time for the iOS developer once they were found.
As a designer and developer, I made various decisions throughout the project. One such decision was to create custom button styles and several helpers and modifiers to separate the frontend from the logic side of things.
