We were tasked to create custom illustrations for the “Perlas ng Pilipinas” coffee beans packaging (This is a product by Sol Imperium Inc.). The main focus was to promote uniquely Filipino elements, which is why endemic animals from around the country can be found hidden in the background as well as native tribal masks in the foreground.

The main challenge was portraying the native masks as accurately as possible, and to have the endemic animals not get drowned out by all the other elements of the design.

We had to find a way to balance each element and color seamlessly together so that they don’t overpower each other which was quite tricky to do.
