Licorice packaging design
The brief for this task was to design a series of packages for three flavours of any dry food product to be sold at a high-end deli. Our packaging had to stand out on a shelf of competitors and be designed with sustainability in mind.
I designed a series of boxes for different flavours of licorice, and experimented with complex folds to create “unthrowable packaging” that is kept and displayed rather than discarded. The boxes would also be able to be taken back to the store and refilled at a discount so as to create less waste.
The final design was a nine-sided prism with a threaded twist fold, mirroring the twisting shape of licorice. I was able to experiment with various printing methods including digital foiling and white ink printing.
