Brief
Create an 8-page booklet that calmly, then flagrantly, shows off your mastery of typography.
Overview
Over the course of 4 weeks, you will create a brief, 5" x 7.5" inch booklet inspired by the NPR podcast 'LifeKit,' in which experts from a variety of fields share their ideas. You'll create a title page, table of contents, 2 spreads of content (4 pages), and an author's biography. You can ONLY use SANS-SERIF TYPEFACES from Adobe Fonts.
Mood Board: I chose Expo as my font for a calm but playful feeling.
Sketched ideas based on my mood board. None of these set up the steps the way I ended it with, but they were a good starting point to seeing what was needed.
Playing with color and layout
One concept with two iterations. Ultimately this layout didn't flow like I wanted and the color palette was not as strong as my other concept's.
Final concept in 3 steps. My first iteration used imagery too much and I needed to rely on my type layouts instead. My second was too busy and needed toned down and some minor adjustments. The last is the final version.
