I wanted to make the cover aesthetically appealing and consider the historical legacy. This work is a tribute to the Ukrainian graphic designer and chief artist of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, Nil Khasevych.
The main title is Volja typeface by the Ukrainian designer Marchela Mozhyna based on Khasevych's lettering for the magazine "For the Will of the Nation". The stamp below is based on his artwork for "To Arms" magazine. The endpaper is a woodcut "Recruits in the UIA".
Among the large amount of literature devoted to the activities of the UIA, this book claims a special place: here the reader will find a structured and concise presentation of the history of the insurgent struggle. The publication is illustrated with many unique photographs, documents and testimonies of participants. The specificity of the multi-level text will help the reader to see a complete picture of the insurgent movement, to understand its place and role in Ukrainian and world history.
