“The Woman In Me”

In honor of International Women’s Day, I wanted to share this piece that I recently did for a local art competition. The oil painting celebrates womanhood and menstrual health, magnifying a little of what it is to be woman.
I used oil paint for most of the piece and acrylic for the crown in gold, which is meant to represent that women are queens for who they are. To showcase menstrual health, I used pads to make imprints all over the painting and painted out flowers as well as imprinting them.
Overall I enjoyed doing this piece and I hope that it can touch the hearts of anyone who views it and that they can somehow feel the emotion and understand how beautiful and amazing it is to be a woman.
