The goal of this project was to create & combine expressive type and abstract design to express a literary theme. In my sketches I explored both the price of hubris and free will vs determinism.

I gravitated to the falling tower Ideas that lined up with the price of hubris. This might be because I was reading Crime and Punishment at the time, or because of my fondness for the Icarus story. Regardless I found it more dramatic and explored it further in illustrator.

The Idea of the tower was exciting, and ultimately I thought the jumbled tower conveyed the overdone nature of hubris without majorly sacrificing the falling movement of the tower.
