Speculative designing -MDP

Project Brief :

This project explores the potential of speculative design as a tool to engage young adults (aged 19-27) interested in new trends and unconventional design approaches. The project aims to achieve two goals:
Deepen the understanding of speculative design: By designing an engaging experience, the project will not only allow the designer to delve deeper into scenario building through a design lens, but also serve as a foundation to showcase this approach to others.

Ignite conversation about complex futures: Through a combination of informative storytelling and relatable future scenarios, the project will foster personal connection with multifaceted future issues. It will use "what-if" Dystopian situations to spark dialogue and encourage exploration of potential futures.

This project seeks to illuminate the power of speculative design in making complex issues engaging and fostering critical thinking about the future among a young and curious audience.
1st Deliverable :

I chose posters as a way to communicate stories about the future. These posters look like a mix of ads, statistics, and research information, all set in this future world.
Posters were the best way to tell every story in one manner as they fall into one cohesive umbrella rather than having a different deliverable for each story .
Due to lack of inactivity people's diaphragm shrinking but, SWAAS came to rescue acting as external respiratory system.
1 out of 4 Indian's suffer from Insomnia, the future holds sleeping theatres for a goodnight sleep.
Nibble Nix - Adult tethers infused with your favourite junk food flavours, just much healthier.
Somas- act like artificial suns for the future.
Prototyping and Experimenting :
2nd Deliverable :

This newsprint was a byproduct of the focus group activity that was conducted during the primary research phase. It contains refined stories  made by the participants addition to stories made up by me. This deliverable helps us visualize a story bank from the future in a fimilar form. It helps us thinks how an anecdote from the future would look like and what kind of stories will be visible to us.
3rd Deliverable :

The manual introduces seven creative thinking exercises to help beginners get started with speculative thinking and avoid getting stuck.
These methods are inspired by the book "The Extrapolation Factory", designed by my understanding of easy representation of methods and diagram using examples.
