WELCOME TO MY WILD LOVE
An all-Italian, all-passion bicycle company.
MWL makes steel bike frames and attempts to merge the art of traditional frame-building with modern paintwork to create a timeless peice of engineering beauty.

My involvement in this project is to design everything from the company logo to the paintwork on the products.
DESIGN 1: STRADA

An ode to the road is what this design is - because without it there is no cycling. It can be our companion and our enemy when we're on it. Strada is Italian for road and below is an initial concept detailing the artwork. The pink stripes will be rough, hand-painted dashes made to look uneven on purpose.
It's an exciting opportunity for any designer to take on the task of designing a full company package, but even more so is being able to explore a new medium - in this case, bicycle frames. The bicycle is such a profound, underrated invention which has a new purpose today in the face of fuel burning engines and general energy concerns. Essentially unchanged for a 100 years, a bicycle is probably a human's best expression of their pysical abilities and personal taste.
DESIGN 2: ANGOLO

Angolo means angle or corner in Italian but in this case it refers to the geometry of the frame. For this design I explored the very shape of the frame itself - the iconic "double diamond". The lines of the paint work are echoes of the physical angles, slicing eachother up and creating new forms. At first it seems like an explosion, or shattered glass but the eye sees the symetry quickly even if the brain takes some time to catchup.
In learning to design on this new medium, I'm seeing an opportunity to start with a fresh approach. To leave behind the rules and ideas I already have and instead explore the geometry of the frames and the action of cycling to find inspiration.
An uncommon feature: the headbadge on these vintage frames is engraved.
MWL will soon be releasing more designs - you can get updates online at mywild.love or instagram
