Problem
Every year, student organizations at Cedarville University compete head-to-head in a weeklong competition called Org Wars. Marketing needed to appeal to student and get them excited to join the competition and then watch the fight!
Solution
Bold strokes of color combined with significant whitespace created a unique brand identity that stood out to students, the target audience. It reflects the energy and mystery of Org Wars in a simple way. In addition to the main logo, five separate marks were created for each night of competition. They were designed to hint at the theme for each night, without giving away exactly what events the organizations would be competing in.
The event was introduced to organization presidents through a custom invitation with their organization's name printed inside. Each invitation was held together with a die-cut sticker of the torch icon. During the week of competition, organization presidents also received oversized postcards with information on the competition for that night.

To promote the event to the entire campus, three separate pieces were installed in the student center. A large graphic was placed on the risers of the main staircase. Five large-format banners, one for each night of competition, were placed along a wall. Additionally, an eight television display was created as a sort of jumbotron for event announcements, organization profiles, and live-updated standings during the week of competition. The event was also promoted through the use of a Snapchat geofilter and sharable Facebook photos.
