Marialab is a brazilian hackerspace created by women to women. Right now it exists as an online community but the group already has a history of doing lectures and talks about web security and other themes related to women and technology.
Maria is one of the most common brazilian names of all times, thus the naming process intended to acknowledge all women from all ages that can be a part of our hackerspace. Lab, because it'a an idea laboratory -- and the inside joke by one of our founding members that she loves labrador dogs -- motivated the creation of our mark. Labs are known as helper dogs and we want to help each other to grow as programmers, tech professionals and human beings.
