For this project, my task was to design a simple one color graphic message to inform people (who cannot read) about safe water drinking habits plus an educational poster.
This black and white iconographic illustration is showing the viewer to clean his/her cups before drinking from them.
The image was created into a plate prepared for the letterpress. The image is reversed so that when it is pressed on to the printing substrate (a book page that can filter water), the image is shown in the way it should be scene.
No ink was actually used in the printing process. Instead, we used the letterpress to press the image on to the paper. The indentations change the color of the paper to a darker tint.
Along with iconography, I created a poster to spread awareness of the lack of safe drinking water. I focused on the fact that people are dying every day due to Marburg fever caused by consuming dirty water.
