romanian tablecloth

The graphic is an inspirations of the Romanian country's tradition. The 60cm X 80cm collaged etching is my interpretation ofRomanian folkloric detailing on traditional clothes and rural architecture. These elements, which intrigued me most, were arranged together on a metalplate. The plate then played the role of a puzzle piece so that when printedmultiple times and arranged in different orientations, varying compositions ofa tablecloth could be formed.
I have always been interested in abstraction, craft, and primitive art. These interests are contained in 'RomanianTablecloth'. Articles of daily use transform and adopt new qualitiesbecoming geometric abstract forms. However, they are still imbued withthe spirit of Romanian folklore. Technique is intentional; the use
of intaglioallows the artwork to remain true to the visual aesthetics of existing Romaniantablecloths.
