Social Experiment | Editing and storytelling

This is a small, personal experiment or challenge undertaken by my art director and myself. We wanted to do something, for ourselves, that challenged our thinking and also forced us to play with the development of other skills – in this case, video editing and storytelling. We also wanted to experiement with how we could build on each other’s ideas without speaking to each other directly – a different type of brainstorming.

How it worked:

Ryan started by making a video, any video. This could be about anything and the only rules were that we weren’t allowed to talk to each other about the idea, and the first time the other would see it would be when it was handed over with all the other working files.

We then went back and forth, with the aim being to edit the video and either strengthen it or change it into something else. At least 3 of the clips that were used in the edit you received had to be incorporated. This was to ensure we didn’t just cut our losses and start again!
