Flex & Ply: Textile Metaphors for Anatomy

Position: Research Assistant
A Wellcome Trust-funded collaboration which used textiles, body painting and projection to explore different aesthetic, scientific and symbolic meanings of the body. The products of ‘Flex and Ply’ are being used as teaching aids for anatomy students, and to challenge existing scientific 'truths'.
Design and development of a range of textile materials, forms and objects exploring in particular the experience of surgery and hidden maps of the body such as Dermatomes and Langer Lines.
