Makinohara Green Tea

Makinohara Green Tea Rebrand

This was a collaboration project with Luke Brown and Harry Kitchin that was awarded runner up in an international design competition supported by the British Council in Japan.

Our packaging was created to be aimed towards females who are on the go, at work or on the way to work. A contemporary style of packaging to draw in the younger consumer. We designed the packaging by relating to the age group who it is aimed at and having the purpose that it would be used for in mind.

The pattern we created was inspired by the Makinohara tea fields where the tea is grown. By creating a foiled, shiny finish, it could contrast with competitors tea packaging by standing out on the shelf and catching a customers eye.

The shape of the packaging was made with the quantity it would hold and portability in mind. We created a bowl like container that folds into a rectangular lid to seal it, the bowl shaped bottom half was inspired by the bowls they drink tea out of normally. We made an origami scoop with the same tea field inspired pattern to match the container, the scoop is for ease of portion size and dispensing the powder tea.
