NEW ESSENTIALS
2017
An exploration of handmade lettering combined with illustration, this project is centered around the phrase ‘New Essentials’. An ironic take on what an ‘essential’ means in the modern day of materialism.
The lettering is made up of a ‘cord’, attached to an iPhone and MacBook, both imperative in my daily workflow. A collection of my favorite items, each hold a utilitarian or emotional connection, and are things I could not live without. Running with the theme of ‘essentials’, the design was reverse laser etched onto clear plexiglass – elevating an ordinary object into something much more.
