Nouveau Noir is a photomontage / matte painting / compositing series of illustrations that readapts the codes of old noir movies to make them fit contemporary environments. It immerses the viewer in a dystopian society halfway between 1980's and 21st century.
The Process
Each design is started with some background from unsplash.com. Each element added is also from free stock pictures websites and cropped. Some color/luminosity/contrast adjustments are then made to make it fit the original background. Special FX (rain, extra lights, fake sky, etc...) are then added and ultimate adjustments are made on Lightroom to give the creation a uniform look.
