Extra Life 4 Kids

In 2014, my friends Sawyer Miller, Michael Stenz, and I played video games for 24 hours and live streamed it to raise money for Children's Hospitals through a service called Extra Life 4 Kids. We only raised $200 back then, but it would later turn into something bigger. In 2015, Lakeland Union High School's tech department took note of the event and wanted to bring it to a wider audience. For the first time, we ran a charity event through the school involving video games. In 2015, students throughout the school participated to earn over $400 for charity that goes directly to the Children's Miracle Network. Ever since then, we have run the event yearly and have raised over $2,400 and have consistently beat our goal. After founding the group, I decided to give it an identity called Small Town Heroes that is still active today, continuing the tradition of playing video games for a greater cause.
