Why Tone of Voice is critical

When we speak our tone of voice influences how the words we use are received. The rhythm, the emphasis, the pace, all matter. Defining an appropriate Tone of Voice is critical to reinforce a desired persona for a business.

Envio was conceived by James Wilkinson, emerging from an informal sound system rental business run by a student for students. Its back story suggests an informal, friendly persona where users and clients are treated as friends. 

But it is also important as a start up to be viewed as professional and trustworthy.


Using copy suggestive of a fun happy friendly personality, also confident in their own abilities and, when called for, professional  will breed trust.

Envio has two distinctive audiences: clients and users. 
A consistent tone of voice suitable for both will establish trust from user and clientele sides.

A Friendly, Professional, Confident tone of voice enforces trust amongst users. A Friendly, Professional, Confident tone of voice sends a clear message to  established companies that envio should be treated as an equal.


Make sure the copy reflects the persona.

 There is no need to be overly formal with the user, and there’s no need to change the copy to look like the inside of a thesaurus even when communicating with clientele. Informality can suggest confidence which can generate trust.
