Nota Bene Magazine Covers & Concept

This project was the first for Publishing Lab class. We had to create a concept for a magazine, and then make covers and some additional elements. Both feature a vellum colored belly band that interact with the cover.

Nota Bene Literary Journal
Observations of the world today
Nota Bene seeks to provide readers with explorative, thoughtful, and critical writings on on the most current and significant events happening in the present day. This weekly journal is composed of writings such as articles, opinion pieces, and essays intended to be thought-provoking and informative. Each issue is centered around a select theme or topic.

Issue One is the Technology Issue. Specifically, I picked an article about how it is unknown how using Apple products will affect children.

Technology Issue part 2 is a mock up of social media graphics, specifically for the magazine's Instagram page.
Issue Two is about the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. The article I used is an opinion piece on letting athletes compete as an "Athlete from Russia" despite the ban on Russia for a doping scheme.

Olympics Issue part two was a contents spread
Overall, I used this project to challenge myself to use a grid, simplicity, and to communicate information with limited text and image.
