Gustav Klimt Inspired T-Shirt

FASHION PROJECT: DESIGNIG A T-SHIRT
As a class, we were tasked to design a T-Shirt based off an artist/designer. I had gotten Gustav Klimt as my inspiration.
IDEAS
Naturally, I started with making a mood-board to visualize my ideas
I've decided to focus on patterns used in his paintings
FINAL PRODUCT
Repetition
Having observed Gustav Klimt, he incorporates created patterns by using repetition. I have taken this essence and used repetition as my main focus.
Close-up look on the neck section of the T-shirt, inspired by Klimt's use of patterns.
I've achieved this by cutting up U shapes out of plastic paper, golden cardboard, cotton and wool. I also have kept in mind an appropriate color scheme; purple, black, off-white, yellow and gold
Cinched Waist
This is what my T-shirt looks like, I was not 100% satisfied with the way it looks therefore I decided to have the waist cinched by adding a band/belt.
I decided to use a material that was already used for the patterns so it would match the look. However, the material was shorter than expected, so I decided to cut two sides of it and stitch it down the middle.
Klimt dedicated a lot of his works to showcase women's femininity and beauty. Therefore, having a cinched waist is fitting, as it creates more shape to the figure.
Other than to create pattern, I've decided to experiment with the lower half of the T-shirt. I've decided to decide to create fringe details.
The fringe detailing is heavily inspired by the style of the 1920s period. Although Klimt's legacy ended before the 20's period, I feel like it is still appropriate to merge these two ideas together. As Klimt was a visionary and he was always ahead of time. Additionally, there were a lot of similarities between the fashion trend in the 20s and Klimt's paintings such as his use of patterns and colors.
