My passion is educating others about complex information in a concise and informative way. I saw a need for biomedical visualizers to utilize the program OSIRIX. This software is a freeware program that visulaizes anatomical data sets such as CT scans. Biomedical visualizers can extract this 3D visual information for reference in their projects including medical illustrations. The software was not intuitive for the novice user and I wanted to make it more accessible and resourceful for my colleagues. The tutorial was so successful it was picked up by the OSIRIX website and still is available for download today (http://www.osirix-viewer.com/Learning.html).
Audience: Novice OSIRIX user
Purpose: Quick reference to educate users on how to use the software
Research: Self-taught software, built on advanced knowledge of user experience
Concept: Create pdf tutorial to inform user of concise and informative way to use the OSIRIX software
I began by self-teaching myself on how to use the OSIRIX software. I analyzed how the user would approach the software and broke the experience down into how they could easily perform their key tasks. These include how they can get started, basic navigation between windows and how to import and export files. Along the way I provided tools and terms for the user as well as an index to find specific topics.
