This project lead me towards an ocean of new experience gained through the extensive exploration and
experimentation in which I have made multiple mistakes and rejections. I was lucky to make all of those
mistakes and learn from them as the end of this process was truly rewarding. Lessons learned through the
mistakes made me realise how detrimental it could be if those were made in a professional field. In terms
of professionalism, I can obviate the possible problems which afterwards could cost me a job or losing a
title of a professionally responsible artist. The self-initiated project gave me a brief image of how my own
time management and organising, was out of place from time to time, to be honest. Now I understand that
unorganised work can be lost or accidentally destroyed, which, in the end, costs money and time to remake
it. Particularly in this project I have learned and understood the effectiveness of the right investment into the
right things. For example, I was looking at the various workshops outside of the university as these resources
were unavailable here. The mandatory need of ceramic workshops was necessary to accomplish all of the
tasks set by myself on the self-initiated project. Overall review of my planning and judging the investments
— whether to invest or not into the new workshops and materials — allowed me to understand how it is
important to prioritise things which are most important in terms to achieve fully finished and supported
outcomes. The financial matter will be one of the main keys for moving forward in my own practice where I
could defend my opinion and make constructive decisions according to the future works. In the end of this
project, I can courageously say that all the investments made during this project were investments to my future.
Speaking of the wide range of outcomes I have created during this projects shows that I am on the way to
finding my true self. As these examples are pretty different from each other, I am very happy that I could
try different materials, mediums and techniques which in my opinion have been successfully adapted to the
application 2 project. Into every outcome I made I put a little bit of myself; that is what adds the difference
and uniqueness. I am not 100% satisfied with the final outcomes and if I were given a possibility to repeat
this project, many things would be done differently, starting from time management, organising the
outcomes, and the final outcomes themselves. If there was a possibility to extend the time of the project, I
would like to experiment more with different mediums, such as woodblock carvings, and also experiment
in terms of investigating shapes, textures and deformation of the traditional understanding of an object.
Playing with ceramics, glazes, making the actual glazes and moulds allowed me to understand the kitchen
of pottery workshop in a really wide spectrum. Beside that, I have tried to imprint different textures, such
as dried plants or leaves. The most exciting thing for me was working with my own carved images on
the clay. Hand-built urns with added details I often use in my drawings gave me that understanding of
responsibility which is crucial in making the final decisions which later positively or negatively affect the
final outcome. This project is just a beginning of a new journey because, overviewing the outcomes, there are
so many different opportunities to go. I am already looking forward to making something new, something
way more complicated which would reflect all the gained experience during the two years at this university.
