Primary Function:
Side Table

Inspiration:
The main inspiration came from rain and thunderstorms. ORORO was also inspired in the xmen comic book character Storm. Since Storm’s real name is ORORO, nothing but fare was to give its name using the real character’s name.

Unique Properties / Project Description:
ORORO is a side table and mini chest. The main feature is its figurative appearance. It is a mini cloud that serves as support for your drink, home ornaments and can also be used to store small objects.

Project Duration and Location:
The project began in October 2017 and was completed in April 2018. It started in Santos SP and was completed in São Paulo SP.

Production / Realization Technology:
ORORO is made with smooth carbon steel of 2mm thickness. The plates are cut manually in a cloud format and then folded into the folder. Internally it is made a structure with flat bars. Since the bolts are placed directly on the floor, they must be structural for the table to not bend, for that purpose it was used bars with 5mm thick. The wooden top is 30mm thick.

Research Abstract:
The idea was to make some object that had a figurative image. The shapes of the clouds and bolts for example. Aside from being just a table, it could have some other function that added to the product. The chest was ideal, since the piece is on the floor and has a firm structure.
 
Challenge:
The big challenge was to find out if the piece would hold the weight that was inside the chest. A prototype piece needed to be made to see if it was feasible. The test was done with a person sitting on top as if it were a stool.
