2017

A sculptural object that examines the functionality of a task light through features of a light source rather than a physical movement of the object. The design incorporates new light technology that is no longer restricted by a form of a light bulb and a need for a reflector and a diffuser, therefore it’s design takes abstract sculptural shape. While the task light leaves traditional form and function becomes unrecognizable, the light intensity is controlled with a touch that is easily understandable and controlled with intuitive movements. Intensity of a light can be changed from high to ambient to create suitable environment whilst switching the tasks from physical to digital.

Manufacturing
Glass shapes cut with a water jet and bonded with UV adhesive which is the most common method in architecture and interior design. UV bonding is a high-speed, low temperature and solventless process that is extremely strong and leaves no sign of glue. COB LED technology chosen as a light source for its wide-area light distribution without glare effect. COB strips are fixed on a brass detail bent from a single flat sheet. Light intensity is controlled with a microcontroller and two touch sensors on top.
