The Lunchbox- Opening Titles
This is a video animation project for the opening titles of a movie.
The film I selected is ‘the lunchbox’, an Indian film from 2013. The request for this project was to use three colors, geometric shapes and, if possible, innovative shooting techniques.
I used the technique of the stop motion shooting geometric seeds. The main objective was to communicate the essence of the film. My idea was to create titles that recall as much as possible Indian cultural peculiarities; I did this through the use of seeds,
spices and cereals. With their geometric shapes they make typical Indian graphic designs.
In their shapes some elements that shows up more than others, symbolized by a colored seed, which represents the ‘dabba’, that is, the indian container of the food referred to in the film, which in order to arrive in time to the recipient, can be moved on foot, by
bicycle, carts, or by train. For this reason the animation will be focused on spreading and then reuniting after endless interweaving of these more prominent elements than others, as if the whole context was activated to make them efficient.
