Tackling Social Isolation in Vancouver
How might we leverage digital technologies to solve urban challenges in the City of Vancouver?
Today, around 16% of the population in Vancouver is 65 years or older, and this number is projected to grow significantly in the coming years (Province of British Columbia, 2018). As the population ages, more individuals will experience chronic health conditions. Hence, this demographic transition places higher needs for community care and this may have profound consequences given that the senior's sector is currently facing a shortage of care workers, as highlighted in a recent report by BC Care Providers (BC Care Providers Association, 2018).
I worked in a team to design a digital platform to tackle social isolation and the high cost of housing in Vancouver.
