Century Without A Mind Webcomic • Hand-Lettered Custom Logo
Elita reached out to me about creating a custom logo for a webcomic she and her sister were working on. I was absolutely thrilled for the opportunity and couldn’t wait to hear more about it. The comic wasn’t finished yet so I relied heavily on Elita’s input and direction during the creation process.
The goal was to create a bold design that features water as the main element incorporated into the letters themselves.
Process
Here’s a peek at the sketching process for the initial samples. With water being the main element I concentrated on making the water effect on the letters that would best suit the comic and still have good readability. The stacked layout of the words seemed to have worked the best, compared to one line layout where the letters would need to be much smaller.
After discussing the directions, we decided on the last sample of the “Mind” works best but the smaller type wasn’t bold enough so I continued to work on small type to make everything more unified and consistent. Check out the videos of the revision process below.
When we had the sketch very close to the final vision I was able to move to creating vectors and make final small adjustments to the final logo as well as adding the color.
