Sci Fi Night with FinX Ident
The channel’s theme (FinX) is as follows:
From aliens to the unexplained. I am taking inspiration from sci-fi themes. The overview is that the sun is rising over the earth and then the camera moves “through” the spaceship’s window, showing high-tech HUDs. The HUDS serve as a straightforward puzzle for viewers. This is because of the target audience. The information is adequate enough to understand easily but it is sort of hidden within the HUDS.

Production and Post-Production:
This whole project was produced from scratch except I had to use three images for accuracy of the representation of earth. The images used are as follows
I used these images to be able to create a globe and have a sunrise transition. I used CC Sphere in After Effects to create globes. I had to make sure the sizes and placements were exact so that when I mask the nighttime globe and the day-time globe match up perfectly.
I also added some effects to make the daytime earth’s colour more realistic as it was too started or bright. I also had to remove any built-in shadows and highlights from the CC Sphere effects to create it myself.

I composed the globe to an aesthetic dramatic composition making the earth look very
larger.I rotated the globes in one direction. I then used masking (feathering the mask for
more realism) to simulate sunrise.

To further convince the viewer of the realism I created a burnt out highlight on the edge of the earth where the sun would rise. For the HUDS I created grids and designed a bunch of cool elements and composed it
onto one screen.
onto one screen.
For the coding scene I used a website to write fake code for me that I copied into AE and added a typewriter effect and positioned it so that it looks like a screen writing code. I also created the flare myself using masks, feathering setting and positive and negative expressions that allowed the flare to move together.
For the sound design I sourced royalty free sounds and did it in Premiere Pro. I recorded the alien voice myself and added some pitching effects and reverb to make it sound inhumane.
