Mechanical Cat Ear for Costume Prop

Here is the second version of these cat ears design. It brings together the newer ideas of wanting to compact the design down a single piece where there will not be a need for a wire to go to an external controller or battery. The design is more robust and can last more punishment. And it is more reliable in the way the ear move. It also has a three directional setting a back, middle, and front. There is also in the coding a way to have the ears to move randomly and also two buttons to control manually where the ears are to position it.
I do think the cat ears have such an elegant movement. And it captivates our attention. So it was a pleasure to reverse engineer these ears. To break down these movements in a way that can be grasped by a mechanical means was fun. In the future I hope to have it more graceful movement. I also want to incorporate a way to have it sense sounds. If a loud sound is made the ears will twitch to that direction. That will be looked into in the future.
A look at the gear drive for the ear motion. A bevel gear drives it with the internals also having sensors to feedback the position of the ears.
