Pico is a hamster character I made. Pico was originally featured in “Runaway Pico”, made for Nokia mobile apps competition. The game is targeted for kids, so it must be easy to play. In the game, Pico runs away from monsters that is chasing him and he has to dodge any obstacles by jumping while running. Unfortunately, the game didn’t made it through. But I continued to illustrate this character for posters and kid T-shirts.

 

 

 

Presenting our hero… Pico was inspired from an agile and cute animal, hamster. Beside our hero, there are monsters who keep on chasing him in every stage. There’s Gozer the boar, Chester the crab, and Julius the owl.

 

 

 

After some stages are cleared, player gets a costume reward for Pico which improves health and cuteness. There is a matching costume for every stage: Sewer, Forest, Beach, and Sea.

 

 

 

Because my love for this character, I decided to continue on making more of Pico. I started to make Pico’s illustration in action so kids will love him. In this illustration Pico has a new friend, Benny, a small red bird that loves to explore everything with Pico. I hope kids will enjoy it.
