The Heart of Kando

Yamaha GDAY Award  Competition Entry

Graphic Form of Kando: The theme for the GDAY Award comes from the Japanese word and philosophy. “KANDO”, which means “for the heart” or “to be deeply moved”. The Philosophy of Kando sits at the core of both Yamaha brands. The GDAY Award hopes to seekout new graphic ideas that will become part of a wider universal language the corporations can share.

This set of pictograms is made of marks found in a heart rate monitor. It emphasizes the way we feel when we are engaged to these instruments. Kando is described as being moved. Our heart rates changes every time we do something exciting or something we love. This captures that passionate moment, the sensation we feel  and experience every time we do something out of the ordinary.
