Anti-Flag American Spring Packaging

Music Packaging

After 20 years of being a driving political punk force, Anti-Flag released their 9th studio album titled American Spring on Spinefarm Records. The songs of American Spring are an aggressive critique of the global social and political climate of 2015. The artwork is no different. The cover art is meant to challenge our collective view of violence and peace.

Archetypal characters represent duality in the modern era, their identity obscured by an exploding flower.

A cherry blossom pattern is used throughout the packaging, a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life.

Vinyl Packaging

The vinyl gatefold uses a die cut to create the effect of removing a gun from a hand, replacing it with the floral pattern.

A series of vinyl variants were produced for limited releases including FYE exclusive (white), live event purachse only (transparent gold), and presale (pink/black split).

Lyrics / Essays

In addition to lyrics, the American Spring package includes essays, personal liner notes, and further information behind the driving forces of each song, detailing ways for us all to take action against injustice in the world.

Digital

A series of digital singles with supporting cover art were released in anticipation to the full album release.

An interactive online generator allows fans to create their own American Spring cover art that could be shared on social media by tagging #AmericanSpring, also used for profile pics.

10" Vinyl Single

A picture disc cut in the shape of a drone strike features the single "Sky is Falling". The song portrays a drone strike from the perspective of a middle eastern victim. The clear sleeve contains an essay from Zubair Rehman, a Pakistani teen who recounts living through an attack and why a cloudy day is prefered since the drones don't fly.
