The Homeless Gospel Choir Presents "Normal" Album

Derek Zanetti, also known as The Homeless Gospel Choir, is a protest singer, author and artist based out of Pittsburgh, PA.

Through his on-stage humor and vulnerability, Derek creates an atmosphere of inclusion and community. He engages with the audience in a way that allows them to know that they're not alone.

His record, Normal, was described by Frank Turner as "a generationally defining album for the underground punk scene.” He also said, “In half an hour, Derek reminded me of what punk's supposed to be.”

The album packaging for Normal was designed to capture Derek's quirky personality while balancing the seriousness of his music's subject matter.

Record Label: A-F Records

A suit was custom tailored for Derek made from the same wall paper background carried throughout the album's packaging.

A logomark was designed to serve as an identity for the album.

A lyric booklet was designed to mimic a playbill. The type and images were illustrated 100% by hand.

Derek's suite existed beyond the packaging for promos and worn during live performances.

Keeping the logomark simple so it can be recreated by fans resulted in a grassroots movement. The logomark and album art elements became tattoos, graffiti, homemade apparel and more. One fan recreated the album cover in cross-stitch.
