Spirits "Unrest" Album Packaging

Known for attention to the album design experience, Boston straight edge hardcore group, Spirits, requested I design their album "Unrest" to be beyond typical packaging. With the music full of political themes, the design examines the American portrait, focusing on how we view the world and our designated place in it.

The cover jacket is die cut so that the front of the record acts as an empty picture frame, allowing for the lyric insert to be placed into the jacket serving as one of four portraits. A pop up cardboard easel attached to the back allows the album to stand up for display as an actual picture frame.

Each portrait has a twist on the misrepresentation of the American dream and the things we are taught from a young age to aspire and value simply because society has dictated as such.
