Bennardo Santos' Brand Identity

I am very serious about self-promotion, as it not only saved my life, but my career too. I did my undergraduate at Midrand Graduate Institute (Pearson Education Institute) in Cape Town, South Africa. It was very difficult and expensive. During my first year I had to work was a waiter in the evening in order to afford my accommodation.

By second year, I had all the equipments I needed and some knowledge and skills, I got from my friend, Sydney Zulu, and a three months internship; I then decided to freelance. I started at DesignCrowd, and it was difficult at first. I soon learned that there are many talent graphic designers, but only a few stand out. But I also learnt that it was not the most talented. But the most 'visible'.

At school I found out what would made most 'visible' and soon realised that it was African themes. They weren't very welcomed, even my lecturers advised me to stay clear of them. Nonetheless, they drew the attention I needed. I soon realised that African themes themselves will not cut it, but with the concept of Afropolitanism, I could combine the highly appreciated Swiss School of design and African aesthetic and create a hybrid, not too African and too Western. Just something in-between, but "stronger than both".
