Charity Shootout brand identity

Charity Shootout brand system

Helping Hoops are a Melbourne based charity with a mission to use basketball to inspire, empower and support children and young people from underprivileged backgrounds.

A key to the success of Helping Hoops is the money that it raises over a two-day fundraising event taking place once a year, called Charity Shootout.

For the 2019 Charity Shootout I was asked to give the identity a facelift and address some key concerns. The event needed to have its own visual identity, one which is distinctly different to that of Helping Hoops, while still sharing some of the DNA like the orange brand colour and the logo.

In past years it has been a mouthful to explain what the event is about. In a nutshell it is an individual fundraising challenge. Fifteen minutes for you to shoot as many free throws as you can in a controlled and fully serviced event space. We encourage the participants to get their friends, family and co-workers to sponsor them for their efforts. This challenge takes place at a single location with hundreds of people coming to participate, watch and encourage one another. And so the tagline RAISE. SHOOT. GIVE. was born.

The event in 2019 raised over $115,000.

Designed for Helping Hoops
My role: Art Direction, Graphic Design

Basketball in the 90's was colourful and full of expression, I wanted to capture this feeling with this re-branding. It needed to reflect the diversity of cultures in the Melbourne community whilst displaying a strong DNA that could be used across multiple applications.

A full style guide was built with multiple logo options, fonts, colours, imagery guidelines as well as additional brand elements.
