KNIGHT WATCH (St. Kitts 2019)

KNIGHT WATCH (St. Kitts 2019)

On my way back to St. Kitts from visiting Nevis (Sister Island) for the first time, Samir and I coordinated last minute plans for a photoshoot via whatsapp. As evening quickly fell, I rushed to my airbnb to pack-up my gear and hit the road on foot. I met Samir on the block and we took a walk down one of the main roads to shoot in front of a mural that I had been admiring. As the journey began so did the rain, but we pressed on. As we continued down the road we came across St. George's Anglican Church - a historic building whose resiliency has withstood centuries of turmoil from humans and nature alike (war, fires, earthquake, hurricane... for real...).

While I had made use of streetlights and an off-camera flash for a majority of the shoot, when we got to this corner I decided to get a little more creative. I lowered the shutter speed to allow more ambient light into the photo so that we could appreciate the architecture. I attempted some "light painting" as my camera was mounted on a tripod, but I eventually let the passing cars do the drawing.

Thanks for your trust & patience during the process Samir! Great working with you.
